We are planning a trip to Paris in May and are having difficulty finding accomodation in Paris including breakfast (as we understand hotel breakfasts can be exorbitant!) for say 200 euros per night. (the major hotels seem to be in the 300-500 euro range).
We would like to be central to the major attractions and would consider the Left Bank as well. Usually we prefer a hotel with traditional versus architecture/design.
Suggestions anyone?

My husband and I are staying at the Hotel De Varenne in the 7th district and we%26#39;re going to pay about 170.00 US Dollars so that%26#39;s not bad. Look at the reviews on this website about it. It does sound good , we haven%26#39;t stayed their yet, but it sounds really nice.

Hi !
Try to look at the Hotel Left Bank Saint Germain, a 3 star hotel at the metro stop Odeon...a really great location..The decoration of the hotel is really beatiful, in a typical French and romantic style..probably the style you are searching for....It is very clean and for a double you must pay about 200 per night. Breakfast is included..indeed, it is not often that breakfasts are included in prices, but in this hotel it is the case.
I let you have a look at the website: http://www.leftbankstgermain.com . When I stayed there, I booked my room through their reservation system, it was really easy to do , I received a confirmation by mail and I had no problem when I arrrived!
Have a good trip in Paris..May is really a beautiful month in Paris, not cold, not too hot..perfect!

If breakfast is that important to you then why not just choose the hotel that you like the most and eat elsewhere?
That way you get the hotel you want and the breakfast that pleases you the most too.

We don%26#39;t take breakfast at hotels when traveling in Europe because that would deprive us of the pleasure of going down to the cafe with the locals.
The Lutecia hotel on the boul Raspail is a luxurious hotel with breathtaking art nouveau architecture. Our friends stayed in a suite for $300/night so you may be able to find a room within your range.

Check the Hotel Le Lavoisier. Rack rates in the $250 range, but they have weekend and last minute rates. The hotel is four star, small located in a traditional Hausmanian mansion and is meticulously designed and maintained. Location is 8th arrondisement on a side street near place Madeliene and the Rue St. Honore. A very, very nice neighborhood.
My wife (who is a bit of a fashonista )and I have stayed here six or seven times and have loved it every time. We ended our honeymoon here after three weeks in Europe and felt like we were home.
The web site is www.hotellavoiser.com

I misspelled the web site:

Good Luck

If you book on-line through the Best Western site you can get the BW Left Bank Saint Germain for 110 Euros (in March) right now- that%26#39;s about 140-150 US$ and includes breakfast.

The separate charges for breakfasts at hotels can be high...but what makes you think that a %26#39;..breakfast included..%26#39; in the published room rate is free? Even in those instances where hotels will include %26#39;..a..%26#39; breakfast, it will most usually be a %26#39;continental breakfast%26#39; of croissant, rolls, coffee/tea, if they offer any sort of %26#39;..buffet..%26#39; in their breakfast room, this will usually be at an additional charge. Even if no breakfast is included, you will find many local cafes in the immediate neighborhood of your hotel where breakfasts will be much less expensive. DON%26#39;T pick a hotel based on %26#39;breakfast included%26#39;. Even then, given the choice between %26#39;;breakfast included and LOCATION, always go with LOCATION. Better to select a better hotel which may be offering some sort of special rate package/promotion, i.e. 50% off of 4th night or 5th night free.

I agree that the Hotel Left Bank Saint Germain is great! The breakfast was more than just a continental .. one could order eggs and they had a great selection of meats, cheese, juice and the all important (to me) coffee. I really liked the hotel. You can%26#39;t beat the location either. I%26#39;ll sure stay there again if I have the chance.
By the way, a year before I stayed at the Hotel Left Bank, I stayed at the Dauphine Saint Germain Hotel which was more money, much, much smaller rooms, not close as close to a metro and no breakfast...so I do consider the breakfast at the Hotel Left Bank free.

I have never had a breakfast included that was only croissant and beverage in a European hotel. Even if it is merely a cold buffet, they generally include cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit, as well as a nice variety of breads with jams.
