restaurants

My wife and I are visiting Paris in mid-April. Any suggestions on fun restaurants that have good food and a buzz atmosphere. Pricing not that important just want to go to a place where great people are having a great time eating and drinking. I get the feeling that some of the older/famous restaurants do not exactaly have a fun atmosphere. We%26#39;re both in our mid to late 30%26#39;s.

L%26#39;Alsace on the Champs-Elysees had a fun atmosphere.

If you go to the website, there is an option for other restaurants(http://www.blanc.net/commun/autresres.htm).

I have heard good things about La Fermette Marbeuf, Au Pied de Couchon, and Chez Jenny.

Sincerely,

Diana

Try Atelier de Joel Robuchon (5 rue de Montelembert in the Hotel Pont Royal in the 7th). It has exceptional food, and an open kitchen with very comfortable relaxed counter seating. Unfortunately, they don%26#39;t take reservations and it is one of the most popular %26quot;new%26quot; (about one year old) restaurants in the city.

For a very buzzy atmosphere and ok food try L%26#39;Avenue on Avenue Montaigne in the 8th. If you go there, make reservations for after 9:00 pm and have drinks before at the bar in the Plaza Athenee.

For a room with a view try Restaurant Georges on the top floor of the Pompidou Center. Same owner as L%26#39;Avenue, go for the atmosphere (wear black) not the food (its ok).

For a more expensive room with a view try La Maison Blanche on the top floor of the Theatre des Champs Elysees also on Avenue Montaigne in the 8th. Very chic all white interior with enormous glass windows/walls. Food is quite good but pricey.

For a completely different scene, also in the 8th, try Alain Ducase%26#39;s Spoon Food and Wine. Very fun trendy menu with lot%26#39;s of interesting pairings (leans a bit asian and California, but still French) and frequented by a very attractive (thin and stylish) clientele.

As you can tell, my wife and I are thirty somethings and have occaison (business, family and pleasure) to visit Paris once or twice a year.

There are many others.

Going to dinner at la Coupole at ten o%26#39;clock in the evening can be a scene. Just hanging out in the bar waiting for your table is a party. The history is real, the room inspired, but don%26#39;t go for the food, it is only average.

One word: Chartiers

I will second the recommendation for Au Pied du Cochon (it%26#39;s not a trip to Paris without a meal there for moi), also would suggest Le Procope.

One of our favorite things to do in Paris is find a good Moroccan or Ethiopian restaurant that serves couscous. They are usually quite a party atmosphere and the food is great! Last time, we went to Chez Be-Bert in the Montparnasse area and it was packed with people having birthdays, and just enjoying themselves with the feasts set before them. We also celebrated our last meal in Paris at Cafe de la Paix, which was actually quite wonderful, very upscale and large with plenty of people having good conversation and fun. It just wasn%26#39;t as stuffy as I had thought it would be.
