is the tour main-montparnasse free to visit?

in my guide book it says %26quot;ciel open daily noon - 2:30pm and 7:30-11pm. Admission 8.20 euros%26quot;

and i think i saw some website that had this same rate. i just thought i saw someone say it was free once.

anyone know for sure? or if it is covered by museum and monument pass

No, it%26#39;s not free. It%26#39;s 8.50 Euros according to Rick Steves 2005 Paris guide. Hours Apr-Sept daily 9:30-23:20, Oct-March 9:30-22:30, %26quot;disappointing after dark%26quot;.

Although not covered by the Museum Pass, the Paris Visite metro pass allows a 35% discount on Tour

Is there someplace high up in Montparnasse tower to have a drink or something to eat? Seems I read that is a better way to spend your money and get almost the same view. ???
