WE took the tour offered by Paris Vision to brugges. We really enyoed it but felt we would have liked more time in Brugges. I%26#39;m a little timid about trains and I know you have to go to Brussels and then catch the train to Brugges. I couldn%26#39;nt find a direct train to Brugges so I gave up and went to Paris Vision, which we probably paid too much for. However, considering that I got us on the wrong train to Chantilly it was probably better to be escorted to Brugges. Prior to our next trip to Paris I plan to get this train thing figured out.

While we%26#39;ve never made a day-trip to Bruges, we have made several long day-trips out of Paris using the French National Railways--SNCF trains. They are easy to figure out and use, relatively inexpensive and relatively convenient. You could easily do a day-trip to Bruges onyour own. Allthat would be required is the THALYS hifg speed train from PARIS-Gare du Nord to BRUSSELS for a switch at that station to a local train to Bruges. The travel time is approx. 2:40 mins from Paris and this includes 15-20 minutes at Brussels to switch trains so there%26#39;s no rush. The SMILYS round-trip discount train fare is 76,60 Euro per person. The escorted motorcoach tours charge 115-120 per person for the 3:30-4:00hour bus ride to Bruges from Paris.
