Taking rental car from Nice into Italy.

Is there anything in particular I should know about taking a rental car from Nice into Italy? Any special insurance or permit required or any other necessary information? Thank you!!

No problems with driving a French rented car in Italy.

You should notify your rental car company that you are taking the car to Italy, which has different insurance requirements from France. This is just in case anything happens while you%26#39;re in Italy.

Italy is also the one country that still requires you to have a drivers license that includes verbiage in the Italian language. It%26#39;s no big deal if you%26#39;re never stopped, but it can become a hassle if you are and you%26#39;re from outside of the EU. This is the one occasion that I would suggest you pick up an International Drivers License from the folks as AAA. It meets the Italian requirement.

be careful hiring a rental car in Nice !!!!! We have just returned after 6 days there and the parking is un believable!! It is acceptable to bump the car in front or behind to get out of your parking space. Ive never saw so many damaged and scraped cars. The public transport is first class. So cheap and reliable. Buses as well as trains. We took the train to Italy and went as far as Vinlatamille on the french train and after sightseeing there we then ventured on the Italian train to Sanremo We couldnt fault the service . It cost a total of 20 return.for 2. There is an excellent train service to Cannes and Monte Carlo. I wouldnt waste your time hiring a car in Nice. The centre of the town is completey dug up at the moment so as well as the parking difficulties and the worry of the rental car being damaged the road works are horrendous

Bumping parked cars is a French hobby and part of their driving habits. This is why parking on the streets is not advisable but public parking (preferably indoors) is no problem
