I%26#39;m staying at a hotel on Rue De Clichy and am getting a bit worried about some of the comments made about this area - is it really that bad?

Haha, my first comment was going to be that if your nick is %26#39;DoubleVodka%26#39; and you%26#39;re from the UK then I%26#39;ll be right down your street :)
But honestly, Rue de Clichy is fine. and it really depends on what you want out of Paris. If you walk up the street, a a minute or two later you%26#39;ll arrive at Place de Clichy with its late-nite bars, nightclubs, red-light district, cinemas....
Walk down the street though and you%26#39;ll find the a wonderful square where the Parisians eat their lunch sitting on the steps of the Sainte Trinity Church (can%26#39;t remember the real name) and 5 minutes further you%26#39;re right in front of the Opera.
So personally I%26#39;d say that this street, which connects Opera to Pigalle, gives you the best of both worlds being able to choose between the bars and the culture.

Hee hee - know what you mean about my name, it%26#39;s something that%26#39;s just stuck, although a Double Vodka every now and then never does any harm ;-) Thanks for your info ptegan, has put my mind at rest, sounds as though we%26#39;re in a pretty good position.
