Alternative to Jules Verne

What about the other restaurant at The Eiffel Tower...Altitude 95, I believe? Would that be a good choice for two women and two teens traveling within a budget?

If you are traveling on a budget then I can%26#39;t recommend either Jules Verne or Altitude 95, not even for lunch. There are dozens of great restaurants within a ten minute walk of the Eiffel Tower that are much better and a better value then either of these two. Some even have a view of the ET.

Remember, you can always go up the tower for the view.

I don%26#39;t think you want to eat near the Eiffel Tower if you are on a budget.

If you want a real Parisian restaurant that doesn%26#39;t cost too much, try Chartiers. Even the Parisians line up to get into this place. You will probably be seated at a table with others, share their bread basket and water bottle, and the waiters can be brusque. But if you wanted to eat at Applebee%26#39;s or Chili%26#39;s, you should stay home. I guarantee you will have a great time if you go to Chartiers and the price is right.

I don%26#39;t know your budget, but Altitude 95 is MUCH more affordable than Jules Verne and a great experience, especially with the under twenty crowd. There is nothiing like having Paris at your feet.

Another alternative, equally scenic would be the Calikfe dinner cruises on the Seine. They have a fixed price menu sarting at 35 euros, which is considerably less than the other cruise dinners. It is also much more casual, the boat itself is quite charming and the night we went they had organized the cruise the arrive at the Eiffel tower just as the lights began to sparkle (10 minutes every hour on the hour). It was a great memory for our guests.

Of course, there%26#39;s always the overpriced snack bar on the first level...

That is a very rude comment from Pixfield and not only inappropriate, but complete misses the point of the Post. Nobody was asking for a US chain, merely a more affordable option to what is a very expensive restaurant. Pixfield, if you are going to reply, please take the time to actually understand the request.

Not every moment is Paris has to be a gourmet experience. Sometimes the view/ambience/convenience of the venue can make for a magical evening without a starred chef slaving away in the kitchen. I have even had a memorable meal or two from the frozen food chainstore Picard, thanks to a gracious host and convivial guests.

Our family loved our evening at Altitude 95, including the tacky 70%26#39;s decor, and the meal would not have been nearly as celebratory in a smoky Parisian filled bistro that we can go to any other day of the week. While I won%26#39;t be giving the food any write ups, it was not bad, AND my husband claims that it is one of the best seafood platters he has ever had in Paris.

Thanks Good2Go!

No, you are right, I%26#39;m not looking for Applebees (and I did think the comment was a bit obnoxious).

I would like the girls to have %26quot;an experieince%26quot; yet did not want to spend $1,000 for a meal at Jules Verne. Do you think the experience of Altitude 95 would be worthwhile?

I took my daughter there for her birthday two years ago and they are still talking about. Even my jaded, well travelled self found it a thrill to be dining on the Eiffel Tower.

You can get great french bistro food in cities across the globe, but you can only dine on the Eiffel Tower in Paris....

How do I make restaurant reservations on-line?
