whirlwind paris trip/lyon daytrips

Myself and my 12 yr old son will be flying into paris in a few weeks to spend 2 weeks in Lyon with family, I have booked one nite in Paris and would like to see as much as I can in 2 days!! Our hotel is around the Arc de Triompe. Also, can anyone suggest some fun daytrips/overnite trips from Lyon?

I think that the fastest/easiest way to see it all is the OpenTours bus. It is a doubledecker bus that stops at tourist venues throughout the city and you can get off and get back on at your leisure. Your son may also enjoy a Fat Tire Bike Tour if they are operating this time of year.

Beaune is a nice town in the Burgundy region near Lyon. The Hospices are an impressive old hospital and your son will surely be impressed with the antique operating equipment (only a few specimens, but remarkably terrifying), as well as the lay out of the sick beds.

Grenoble is not too far for an overnight in the alps and Geneva is also close enough for a daytrip.
