Best hot chocolate in Paris?

Calling all chocoholics!! I%26#39;ve been reading much about the hot chocolate in Paris and it seems there are 3 places calling my name -- Angelina%26#39;s, La Maison du Chocolat, and La Charlotte de l%26#39;Isle. I%26#39;m hoping to go to all three while we%26#39;re there, but just in case, I%26#39;d like hear from anyone who has opinions on these places or any others you%26#39;ve tried that you deem %26quot;the best.%26quot;

Merci encore,

Nina

I love Angelina%26#39;s and you can buy their mix to bring home.

Now this is my area of expertise... from your choices I am guessing that you read the article in the NYTimes.

Most of the chocolate guide books (there is more than one) vote for the classic...Angelina%26#39;s, basically a great quality chocolate bar melted into your cup served with chantilly and a much need glass of water.

La Maison du Chocolate is a sleeker place and they have several different hot chocolates that you can try. Not all of the shops have drinks, the one on Francois 1ere is a sure bet.

La Charlotte de l%26#39;Isle is a lovely little tea salon, but personally, for a third choice, I prefer Laduree. The salon on the rue Royal is beautiful, historic and the hot chocolate outstanding, with the added bonus of being able to enjoy your beverage with some of the best macarons (chocolate, of course) that the city has to offer. This is my favorite for hot chocolate in the city, Angelina%26#39;s being a tad too rich for my tastebuds.

Well, your question inspired me to take out my guides and I spotted one that is on my list... Jean Paul Hevin 231 rue St Honore (M) Tuileries www.jphevin.com, on the first floor, just above his outstanding chocolate shop. Has his chocolate galette des rois for the epiphany last week....YUM

Balance all that out with a scoop of chocolat mi-amer ice cream from Berthillon. Cassis or cerises work well with the bitter chocolate, too.

For a great chocolate ice cream you can try the Bac a Glace on the rue du Bac between Babylone and Varenne. Berthillon is better on most counts, but for chocolate and vanille; they are experts.

Also don%26#39;t miss the rose petal macroons at Laduree...outstanding and unique! The lemon, the pistachio, oh...they%26#39;re all to die for! My mouth yearns for the flavor just thinking about them!!

Oh, you mean Isphan...that%26#39;s a Pierre Herme special. His shop on the rue Bonaparte has the best chocolate anything I have ever put int my mouth...the Pleintude dome. mmmmmmmmmm

smooth, crunchy, sweet, salty, bitter, caramel and chocolate.
