Cornfellow,

There are actually two big museums at Parc de la Villette. We did not find the cite de la Science especially good, mostly because we have been to great ones here in the States. We took a child with us who liked it fine. There is a submarine in the rear, (very interesting), a planitarium, some movies (extra charge) and many exhibits, in the large building. If you dont go to these type places home it could be interesting. Nothing particuliarly French, as I recall.

Cite de la Music is a unique, outstanding, museum, in my opinion and we had never been to anything like it here in the States. It is across the beautiful parc Vilette on the south side of it. There is an absolutely wonderful display of all types of instruments, some live music and for us, just great. Never been to anything like it. You get an English earphone set with the entrance fee and it gives the history all the instruments displayed on several floors and plays the music of each of them. There was a live classical guitarist playing the day we were there. You have to seek out this museum a little, over in a corner of the main public building.

If you are only in Paris for one week and you have some extra time it is worth it...great museum...but it is not particularily Parisian or French....other than music..................Shouldn%26#39;t take a whole day either. There seemed to be many young people in the area, perhaps going to school there or performing and in the cafeteria, so you might run into someone interesting. Have fun whatever you do....

If you are visiting with kids, now is the time to go to the Cite des Sciences, they have an entire visit dedicated to disgusting bodily functions that seems to really charm the kinder!

When I am without the kids and have some spare time I usually choose other sites to explore.

Try the Hotel Crimee, http://www.hotelcrimeeparis.com/, it is a really clean and nice 2 stars hotel located near the Villette. It is a great hotel with really reasonables prices. You won%26#39;t have any bad surprise. It is a good service for a good price. If you need to stay in this area it is the best hotel.

Enjoy Paris
