Attention Paris EXPERTS!! What is the best DAY TRIP?

Going to be in Paris with my mother and brother on March 19-24 (5 full usefull days). Just in case we want to check out a different city outside of Paris, what would be a good day trip? What is your favorite day trip outside of Paris? We are looking for something with easy access and different from Paris. Any Chateau De Vin suggestions? Can%26#39;t wait to see what you guys have in mind!

Reims to visit the cathedral and some champagne tasting.

A day in Monet%26#39;s Gardens at Giverney.

Senlis, a medieval town in the Val d%26#39;Oise just north of the city.

Chartres for the cathedral and a pretty town.

All of these destinations are easily accessible by train and can be done on a day trip without any fuss.

Chateau de Vin...... Does this mean a day trip to wine country (I%26#39;d go to Beaune, but the travel time is longer than these other trips) or wine tasting in the city (Lavinia is the biggest wineshop in Europe and they have a tasting bar, I%26#39;d start there.)

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;A day in Monet%26#39;s Gardens at Giverney.%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Though an excellent suggestion any other time and a delightful day-trip from Paris, Monet%26#39;s Home and Gardens at Giverny will not re-open for the season until APRIL 1st 2005

Reims has an amazing cathedral. You can take a tour of a champagne house (and get a few samples to take home). If you will rent a car, I would also suggest going to Epernay and seeing the place where Dom Perignon invented champagne. It is a small and quaint little church surrounded by smaller champagne houses. (you might be able to find some type of guided day tour if this interests you). Or take a day trip to Brussels or Brugge Belgium. Come try the chocolate and the beer :) :)

I vote for Giverney but again, not open until April. My second choice is Chartres. Oh, another great one that I did is to take a trip to the Champagne region (is it Reims? I forget, I didn%26#39;t drive that day) and visit the caves of Moet, Taittinger, etc.

Another option would be to go to Fontainebleau, south of Paris (about 1hr). Easy to go by train, and totally different from Paris : it%26#39;s a little country city, with a lovely castle (the one in which Napoleon made his farewell before surrending to the British) that worth the trip, some interesting antiques shops. And quite off the beaten path compared to say Versailles. Fontainebleau is also close to Moret sur Loing (a medieval city) and Vaux le Vicomte castle.

In the same style of %26quot;escape from Paris%26quot;, there is Senlis, a medieval city but you need a car to go there. Senlis can be mixed with a visit to Chantilly (another wonderfull Castle, with an extraordinary horse museum), home of the Chantilly cream of course.
