Le Grand Hotel Des Gobelins . . . Anybody?

Hi, I found this hotel in Latin Quarter with good rates and I am just about to book it, but not sure if its as nice as the images show. TripAdvisor doesn;t say much about it . . . could anyone please help me as far as teh location . .. accessbility to the metro and the hotel itself. Thanks!!

The hotel is actually in the 13th, on the very edge of what is considered the Latin Quarter. It%26#39;s a good 40 minute walk to Norte Dame. The nearest metro stops are St. Marcel (#1 line) and Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz (#1 %26amp; 10 lines) in one direction or Gobelins (#5 line) in the other.

How far of a walk from the hotel are those metro stops mentioned? And how good of an area is it (since its on the edge of Latin quarter)? What would be a better alternative to this hotel with rates no more than 90EUR? Appreciate the information!

I don%26#39;t know the Grand Hotel des Gobelins...I only know the hotel Cardinal Rive Gauche, a 3 star hotel not far away from Grand Hotel des Gobelins but more nearer from Latin Quarter....it is a good 3 star hotel not far away from the famous Rue Mouffetard and in the Latin Quarter, it is really a good area to stay.

I let you the website of this hotel: http://www.hotelcardinal.com.

It is a clean and nice hotel.

Have a good trip in Paris!

The St. Marcel metro stop should be the closest from the hotel, less then 5 minutes. It%26#39;s located on Blvd. de L%26#39;Hospital. d%26#39;Austerlitz will be the second closest and is on the same Blvd. at the train station. The Gobelins stop is the farthest away but shouldn%26#39;t be more then a ten or 12 minute walk.

There are a number of hotels within the same budget as the Des Gobelins. You may want to check the following web site for prices and locations.

Just wanted to bring this up again to see of anyone else had information regarding this hotel. I have reservations for a triple room, with buffet breakfast, for $USD 149 a night (staying for 5 nights - late March). Good deal?? Location desirable? Any issues? Appreciate all cooments!
