Paris 5th quarter-help!

Hi, i%26#39;m travelling to Paris next month for a week with my girlfriend. We are staying in the hotel du pantheon (beside the Pantheon surprisingly!) in the 5th district. Does anyone know any good restaurants/bars around that area?

Also, is there such a thing as the %26#39;Paris card%26#39;, like what they have in budapest, vienna etc where you get discounts into museums etc?

Thanks!

Hey Jonny,

The NY Times has a bunch of restaurant reviews on-line arichived in their Travel Section. You need to register to read them but registration is free.

Click on the icon at the bottom for the Paris Museum Pass

Not so much a discount card, more like prepaid card.

Note that some museums covered on the pass are free anyway.(all city-owned museums are free). With the pass you do not have to wait in the cashier lines, just walk up to security and go in. (of course, there might be a line there in which case you go thru it).

It may or not be of value to you, depending on how many museums you want to visit.

There is another card, Paris Visite, that is for transport and also has some reductions by percent-off to some places, which may or may not be a deal. The pass if used solely for transportation is NOT a deal in most cases. (click on icon at bottom left of same website).

For bars and such try

www.parispubs.com

which lists Irish/Brit/French/US places to drink in town.

and

www.funkymaps.com

for the latest info per region of what%26#39;s happening in town (bar-wise).

If you%26#39;re looking for cool places to eat and such then try searching google for %26quot;rue mouffetard%26quot;. It%26#39;s just a couple of minutes away and full of restaurants and pubs. And %26#39;cos it%26#39;s a little out of the way as compared to other sites, it%26#39;ll be that much cheaper too.

One of our favorite restaurants in paris is on the Rue Mouffetard: Jardin d%26#39;Artemis. There are a lot of fun places right on the Contrascarpe as well.
