My wife and I fly into Marseille Thursday April 28/05 at 6p.m. We will carry our disasssembled tandem bike in two large bike bags and are needing cheap transportation to Aix-en-Provence.We would appreciate your suggestions and an e-mail address to your tourist information office.
Thanks Doug

The train might be the cheapest way. Go on www.sncf.com for fares and schedule. You could also rent a car (around 50$ a day before insurance if you reserve from Canada)

I am making an assumption that you are flying into the Marseille Provence Airport. There was a bus schedule listed on their webite. www.mrsairport.com/eng/acces/acces_bus.jsp
It would make sense for Aix-en-Provence to have a shuttle bus to the Airport because this town has a university and there are a lot of students.
I was in Aix-en-Provence for the day this past September. It was not very far from Marseille (I came in for the day by cruise ship).
You may want to contact where you are staying in Aix-en-Provence and ask them for a recommendation. If your accommodation is not close to the bus or the rail, then it is better to take a taxi considering that you have two large bags.
Sincerely,
Diana

Hello,
I live in Aix and although I have only used this bus system from Aix to the train station, I know it runs directly to the airport.
Check out this link for more info:
http://www.navetteaixmarseille.com/
It may be your most direct means to Aix as to get to the train station, you will still need a shuttle.
Marseille is about 20 minutes, maximum, from Aix and the Gare Routiere, where the Navette bus will drop you, is easy walking distance to just about anyplace you need to be. Also, there is a taxi stop just meters from where your bus will let you out.
Hope this helps...and have a lovely trip!
Leslie
p.s. if you have any other questions about Aix or Provence, let me know. I%26#39;d be happy to help you out if I can answer them.

Dear Julie,
Perhaps you can help me with a decision. I am taking a French language course for only a week in March. I am considering Aix, Avignon, Manosque and Montpellier (out of your range, but maybe you know the city).
Quality of the courses aside, I just cannot settle on the location. While the course in Manosque looks the best, I fear it might be cold, given that it%26#39;s higher up. I like a small town where less English is spoken, that is not overrun with tourists (tho it will be March), but I don%26#39;t want it so small that I%26#39;ll quickly exhaust explorations (I will not have a car).
Avignon may be too large a city, but it also may be the warmest. Montpellier is definitely large and tour books and travel forums don%26#39;t touch on it, but it may have it%26#39;s pleasures.
Do you (or anyone) have any suggestions for me?

I live in Aix and like somebody else said the best way to get to aix from the airport is with the airport shuttle. It takes about 20 min and I think it costs 7.5 euros. The shuttle stops at the %26quot;gare routire%26quot; wich is the main busstation in Aix and you will have a 5 min walk to get to the old town (La rotonde, Cours mirabeau etc) or you could take a cab (there is a cabstation about 30 m from where the shuttle stops, you can%26#39;t miss it) Hope you%26#39;ll have a nice stay in Aix!
