Aussie boy lost (and I'm not even there yet!)

My wife %26amp; I are doing our first O/S trip for our 30th wed anniversary (round the world, 5 stops - LA, NY, Ldn, Prs, HK) and I%26#39;m only having trouble so far finding directions from CDG airport to our hotel, The Royal Medoc at 14 Rue Geoffroy Marie, 75009.

We have %26#39;Paris Visit%26#39; transport cards which includes public transport from the Airport/hotel/airport.

How can we best get to the Royal Medoc. What is the name of the nearest Station.

BTW - These %26#39;Tripadvisor%26#39; forums (and you contributors) are worth your weight in gold.

I should have added to above that I can%26#39;t even find my hotel or the street its on on any map I have. Only the general area in the 9th Arr. (I Think)

|||

Yup, it%26#39;s in the 9th. Near Grand Boulevards metro station. It is a tiny street that starts at the rue du Faubourg Montmartre and runs towards rue Richer.

It does not really make sense for you to take the metro, as you are actually close to the station, but would have to transfer a couple of times.

You could almost walk, it is about 12 blocks, but if you have lugagge you may want to take the number 48 bus from the Gare du Nord directly to Grands Boulevards. You should be able to get a copy of the bus%26#39;s route at www.ratp.com (it will also take you from your hotel directly to the Louvre).

|||

As Good2Go said, you could almost walk it and if the weather was good and you didn%26#39;t have very many bags I%26#39;d say go for it !

Buses are great in Paris and the 43 shouldn%26#39;t take more than 10 minutes to get you there.

Though if you%26#39;re flying from Oz to Paris then maybe a taxi will get you there in a few minutes. sometimes it%26#39;s best to start trying the metros and buses in a new city after you%26#39;ve found your hotel and have your stuff safely stored away :)

|||

Bit difficult to get the bags on/off the metro. it%26#39;s OK on RER lines though. Try bus or even taxi from Gare de Nord although with the taxi queue bus or walk will be much quicker.

|||

Thanx to all.

Problem solved. Aussie boy no longer lost - Well maybe just a little;-)

|||

Volitans,

Try entering your hotel address on Mapquest. You may be able to print a map of the immediate area around your hotel.

I used Mapquest for directions to the Musee Marmottan because all the directions I read were a bit confusing. It worked great.

|||

Hey there Volitans - if you enter the name of your hoel in the search box at the top LHS of this page, you%26#39;ll be able to follow links to see pics, prices, maps, etc etc.

Unfortunately it doesn%26#39;t appear to be one of the listed hotels from this site, where comements are invited form visitors, but you could hunt out more using google. I%26#39;ts pretty rare to find a hotel in Paris that someone hasn%26#39;t said something about..

If you get the time and are feeling homesick, check out Cafe Oz -- it%26#39;s on Rue St Denis, off Rue de Rivoli near the Louvre. You can pick up a Toohey%26#39;s New or a Crownie for about 5 euro! Expensive, but hey, that%26#39;s Paris!
