Where to stay?

Myself and girlfriend are hopefully going to Normandy in the first week of May. Self-catering ....cottage.....gite etc.

We plan to do the normal ...D-day landing sites ...Mont Saint Michel...that bit of cross stitch in Bayeux etc.

Can anyone recommend a nice place (town/village) as a base for the holiday?

And can anyone recommend good self catering accommodation? Anywhere upto 300 for a week for two people in the first week of May.

Many thanks

Hi Gravel Monkey,

My best experience of Normandy accommodation is www.la-ducrie.com (reviews on tripadvisor.co.uk) - this is a centrally located Norman Castle run by an English couple that provide superb b and b. The accommodation really needs to be seen to be believed and the location is excellent for the landing beaches, major towns and cities and, of course, the incredible Le Mont St. Michel. In addition, rates are very competitive and, if you%26#39;re feeling lazy and want an evening meal, the food is excellent.

You really can%26#39;t go far wrong! Good luck!

I like the B%26amp;B %26quot;La Ducrie%26quot; near Le Dezert and St. Lo. It%26#39;s a 500 year old castle. While not self catering, inexpensive meals can be had in nearby towns. It is a short drive to Bayeux and Omaha Beach. Check out their web site for more information.
