Paris metro visite pass

Does anyone knows how it works, I have used similar in NY does it have a magnetic strip to get into the subway station or just go in and keep it with you at all times.

I%26#39;m guessing that it has a magnetic strip just like the Carte Orange.

Either way, you keep it with you at all times.

When you purchase a pass you receive a plastic pouch about 2 X 4 inches. Inside the pouch is a booklet that lists discounts on various sites, nothing major, most are of questionable value.

There is also a black card enclosed which explains in English (if you prefer) the rules of use. On this card you write your name and first day of use. You need to have it available if the metro police come around. I did not see any during my 5 days, but I have heard they do periodic checks.

Finally, there is a small white ticket about 1 X 2 inches, with a magnetic strip. You insert this ticket into the gate at metro stations, or the box on busses. If you use the RER trains you also have to insert the ticket to exit the station, but not on the regular metro lines. It is really simple to use.

It is also simple to purchase at any metro station. They accept credit cards. I was there in November 2004 and that%26#39;s what I base this information on.

NO...NO...NO...if you insert the ticket stub into a ticket validator machine on a public bus it will INVALIDATE the ticket and make it worthless for further use in Metro/RER turnstiles. Ther are NO replacement tickets and no refunds. All you need do when you board a public bus is show your dated PARIS VISITE pass to the driver. The purpose of the ticket machines on buses is to check that a ticket (any ticket) is valid and then INVALIDATE it so that they can NOT be re-used.

Thanks for the Info guys much appreciated.
