If you%26#39;re not an %26quot;art fan%26quot;, then put it out of your mind. Dont even give it a second thought. Why waste your time absorbing a little classic culture?

I don%26#39;t see how you could go to Paris and not see the Louvre. At least pay the 8.50 euros and see the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Code of Hammurabi, Winged Victory, and a few of the other %26quot;famous%26quot; pieces. It%26#39;s also the site of the palace of the French king from around 1300 to Louis XIV, so from that perspective it%26#39;s also worth a visit. If you%26#39;re not an art fan, just pick out a few things you like (it%26#39;s like the British Museum - lots of Egyptian, Roman, Greek art) and see those.

The Louvre is excellent whether you are an art lover or not. The problem you may face is that it is such an immense museum in size that you will take a lot of time finding your favorite pieces.

Everyone has their own preferences, priorities and interests. If you%26#39;d rather not discover the great treasures of an internationally renowned and acclaimed repository of some of the world%26#39;s finest art, objet, artifacts and architecture like the Musee du Louvre, then skip it. %26#39;Value%26#39; is relative.

I see from you other posts that you will be in Paris for 3 day and that you have a limited budget. Perhaps you should take a look at some walking tours in different districts of the city. They are an inexpensive way to soak in the ambiance of Paris.

If you are in Paris a short time and art is not your biggest interest, then I wouldn%26#39;t specifically advise going to the Louvre--unless you are specifically curious about it or want to be able to say you%26#39;ve been there. There are so many other things to do and see that are impressive--buildings, monuments, and historical museums etc. you may not want to put the Louvre on your priority. Also it is sooo large--just getting into the Louvre and out takes a certain amount of time. I%26#39;m very much an art person--but I am more interested in other types of art such as in the D%26#39;orsay and more modern art. If my time was limited, personally I%26#39;d go to the D%26#39;orsay twice before going to the Louvre. Also the Rodin. In addition to the D%26#39;Orsay art, I find the building itself to be magnificent and very interesting. On the other hand the building which houses the Louvre, although huge and once a palace, is quite ordinary and uninteresting (to me) compared to so many other Paris buildings. Sometime, I would like to spend a couple of days at the Louvre, when I%26#39;ve exhausted a lot of my other interests. It%26#39;s all a matter of time, priority, interests, and opinion. And you shouldn%26#39;t worry when you get snippy, guilt rendering replies such as, Yes, go ahead and skip it, its OK to miss out on the most major cultural experience of the Western world.

Hello Traveller,

Paris to me is one great big museum. I%26#39;d say skip the Louve if don%26#39;t think you woild like it. Seems to me be it would be boring to go if you aren%26#39;t into that sort of art and I don%26#39;t think the Louve can be %26quot;seen%26quot; in a short visit anyway. There is so much more to see for a short visit. Whether you realize it or not you will see art all over the city....... the buildings, the narrow rues, the churches, the wide boulevards, the markets, cafes, restaurants, parks, the people, the river, the food!........everywhere. For your friends back home walk by it....then you have %26quot;seen%26quot; it.............Have fun.
