Hi, I am visiting Paris this weekend with my partner. I believe we are staying in area 8 between the Champs Elysees and Place de la concorde.
This is the first time that we have visited Paris and i was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers for nice places to eat good food in this area?
Also, everyone is talking about planning before you arrive in Paris, but what is the best way to %26quot;plan%26quot; if you havent been before? How do you plan when you don%26#39;t know what you are planning? any planning tips / links to other relivent posts?
Cheers

Get a guidebook so that you know what Paris has to offer and then you can figure out which sights and activities most appeal to your personal tastes, allowing you to plan a more enjoyable holiday.

Romantic dining in the 8th arr: Le Jardin in the Hotel Royal Monceau, Maison Blanche (lovely view)
Break the Bank but wildly romantic: Ledoyen (my choice for most romantic in Paris), Lasserre, Tallevent (my choice for best restaurant in Paris)

The process is pretty simple really: FIRST you take the time and make theeffort find out something about your destination. Among the best ways to begin to do this is to take yourself down to your localpublic/college library or your local book store and scan through some of the several hundreds of guidebooks which have been written about PARIS---though London and NYC may hope, Paris is still the MOST visited city in the world. There%26#39;s no shortage of reference material to draw upon. Spend some time scanning through the various guides and then purchase one or two which %26#39;..resonate..%26#39; with your own personal preferences, priorities, interests, special needs and budget. While you%26#39;re at it pick up a good Paris Street map to orient yourself to the city and its layout and the relative locations of the sights and attractions which interest you. You can also do a simple internet search for PARIS TRAVEL and find more than enough additional material to expand (or draw into sharper focus) on this. As you DO this, your %26#39;..plan..%26#39; will begin to emerge of itself. If you%26#39;ve neither the time nor inclination to go to this minimal amount of bother then, %26quot;..just take the escorted tour...all the old dears love them..%26quot;
