I%26#39;m concerned. Friends had recommended the %26quot;Rue Cler area%26quot;
so glowingly that we booked an apartment nearby for our family of 5. As I read postings here I%26#39;m worried that we%26#39;ve booked ourselves into a more desolate, commercial area than I%26#39;d expected. Does anyone know this corner above? Will it be eerily empty in the evenings? we%26#39;re thrilled to be going to Paris and are the type to trek all over anyway -- but I%26#39;m curious to know if I%26#39;ve booked us into a less-than-stellar area? thanks for the perpsective.

It will be eerily and wonderfully quiet at night, but realtively bustling in the evenings. You are not in a commercial area, but a real neighborhood where people live.
Not at all appealing for young travelors wishing to go out and play all night, but ideal for families, as you are surrounded by cafes, restaurants and near a great market street. Not to mention Poujauran Bakery on the very nearby rue Jean Nicot and one of the very best chocolate shops in Paris, Michel Chaudon, rue de l%26#39;Universite.

We%26#39;ve been to Paris many times and stayed all over the city. I liked this area for the reasons mentioned above. Especialy on the weekends. It is the only plce we%26#39;ve stayed where it is very quiet late at night and you get a great nights sleep. It is a very clean and pretty part of Paris. I plan to stay there again next visit.
