Suprise trip for my 18yr old fashion Student

Hi I am taking my daughter who is a Fashion Student to Paris as a suprise for her 18th Birthday for 4 days in July. Where are the best places to take her for shopping,. She has her own quirky style and as I know she will love looking round the major big stores but really want to show her those little known back streets where alot of the not so famous designers sell their stuff, any ideas please.

The Etienne Marcel area, the rue des Francs Bourgeois in the Marais and in Montmartre near the Abbesses metro are some good places to explore.

The 3rd--upper Marais is definitely emerging as one of the %26#39;fashion centers%26#39; of the world and is definitely a %26#39;..must see..%26#39; for any serious student of fashion (your daughter is probably already %26#39;tuned in%26#39;).

I%26#39;m not sure that this link will open for you but if not all you need do is register (free)-- …nytimes.com/mem/travel/article-page.html…

If you must search the archives of the http://www.nyt.com (NY Times) site, the title of the article on fashion in the Marais, which appeared in the TRAVEL section, is:

%26quot;..SURFACING: PARIS--A Shopping Mecca in the Marais..%26quot; by Aris Chen (Jan. 02, 2005)

In addition to shopping, you should also make a point odf stopping at the MUSEE des ARTS DECORATIF-- http://www.ucad.fr/ucadgb/indexgb.html

From what I can remember the area near the metro stop Sentier is the garment district and from there towards metro Temple there used to be many small ateliers for small designers. Really fun to walk the streets and window shop around there. Often a designer will have 4 or 5 outfits in the window and that is it. Sounds like the north section of the 3rd arrondissement is still a good place to wander the streets. Also the prices were very reasonable and can often find some really good buys of unique garments. Have fun!

These days the Place des Victoires, in the 1er arrondissement (near Louvre) gathers the fashion trendy shops, as well as the neighborhood like Passage Vivienne where she will find Jean-PAul Gaultier workshop and Chantal Thomass%26#39;.

The whole area is filled with small designers and creators shops, basically between rue du Louvre and Avenue de l%26#39;Opera, lined on the south by jardins du Palais Royal.

For %26quot;haute couture%26quot;, head towards Avenue Montaigne, near Champs Elysees, where stand Dior shops and such famous names.
