That%26#39;s about 207 euros at the current exchange rate. You should be able to find something decent. Might I suggest you check the Hotel Varenne in the 7th. It%26#39;s very comfortable and well within your budget.

Enjoy Paris.

The MERCURE PARIS TOUR EIFFEL HOTEL (4-star) 64 Blvd. de Grenelle, 75015, Metro Dupleix (#6 ligne)

www.mercuretoureiffel.com/uk/default.asp

At 207 Euro (350 AUD) per night, this will be at the full, regular published rack-rate for this hotel (Classic Room 210 Euro--Deluxe 240 Euro). The tour packager is NOT offering you any deals--(promotions, specials, discounts).

This will be a very pleasant, %26#39;..superior tourist/business%26#39; class hotel---and you%26#39;ll probably be quite satisfied with the hotel and its amenities. But given that you only have one day/night to spend in Paris, it might be located just a bit too far from the %26#39;center%26#39; of Paris for your purpose (surprisingly, the Eiffel tower is located well west of the %26#39;center%26#39;). There is a Metro station--DUPLEIX--located a few steps from the front door of the hotel. You might check with your tour packager (for simple convenience--not savings) to see what other hotels they offer more in the %26#39;center%26#39;--1st-Louvre/Tuileries, 6th-Saint Germain des Pres arrondissements. If you have a choice, it%26#39;s best to trade hotel %26#39;stars%26#39; for better LOCATION. most Paris 3-star hotels are usually VERY nice hotels. For your hard earned dollars, trade the 4-star Mercure Tour Eiffel for a 3-star in a more central location (the closer to the Seine the better).

Thanks for your advice. We actually will be spending 3 nights in Paris. 2 nights with the tour company ( globus) and one on our own. We thought it would be easier to stay at the same hotel for the extra night rather than packing up and changing hotels for the extra night. I would appreciate you advice on this matter.

Hi,

I%26#39;m from Sydney, Australia and I%26#39;ll be touring with Insight Tours. Like you, Kadumba, I will be staying a few extra nights in Paris. The hotel Insight Vacation is putting us up in is Sofitel Rive Gauche. I%26#39;m staying an extra 3 nights and they quoted me AUD$403 per night! They told me that it would be more convenient to stay on in the same hotel rather than to move to a different one with all our bags etc. I was also told that hotels in Paris are very expensive so if I want the same standard of hotel as the Sofitel I%26#39;ll be paying pretty much the same price. Not sure how true this is, as I haven%26#39;t done much research on hotels in Paris.

Dear Austravller,

I think you are right. I have tried a couple of web sites and the hotels do seem to be quite expensive.

Try the web site Parisby.com, pick your district and an array of hotels in the area you choose will displayed, complete with descriptions, photos, booking/rate (in Euro) information. Their quote responses are prompt, usually in less than 24-hours.
